Roadways Literacy Studio - New Location Celebration!

Well, our school year is off to a great start! It has been busy and exciting!

On the evening of September 27, 2019, we hosted a party for families and friends to celebrate the opening of our new location for Roadways Literacy Studio. The theme for the evening was, “Grateful, Thankful, Blessed!”  Our school was decorated in colours and accents to represent the season of Thanksgiving and Fall.

Our students opened the evening with their rendition of Nicole Kozar’s poem, Bang, Bang, Clang! It was noisy, and funny, and awesome! Their singing (and shouting!), marching, and clanging of instruments managed to get everyone’s attention!

A short program followed with Rob Harasymchuk’s personal and touching story of coming to grips with his son’s learning disability, being the highlight. There was not a dry eye in the audience.

The evening also included appetizers, drinks and lots of visiting! Thanks to my cousin “chefs,” Cindy Desjardins, and Tennie Hysuik.

More than 80 family and friends attended our event, including my own family – daughters and their husbands, sisters, brother-in-law, and my 85 year old mom!

To wrap up this event we made the draw for our big fundraiser for the year…our “Tiny” house! The winning ticket belonged to our own Aliviah Osmundson, a grade four student in our school!

Thank you to Maureen and Gord Haddock for providing us with this incredible space!
