Lifting Our Moods Through the Power of Movement

Welcome to our February edition of our “Lift Your Mood, Lift Your Life” project. This month was all about discovering how moving your body can make you feel happier and more positive, and why that’s important. 🤸

To explore the benefits of movement, we chose fun adventures that provided new and unique experiences for our students, and allowed them to explore how moving your body can:

🌈 boost your mood

💥zap away stress

🌟and leave you feeling a big sense of pride and accomplishment!

Our Adventures in Movement:

🚶 Cross Canada Movement Challenge

We started our movement month with a ‘Cross Canada Movement Challenge’. The students each got a step counter and the challenge was to walk across Canada… Spoiler alert - We didn’t get very far! We learned that Canada is a big country with more than a month’s worth of walking needed to reach the other coast. Even though we didn't make it all the way, it was still fun tracking our steps and seeing how far we could go.

🧗 Clip ‘n Climb

Our adventure at Clip ‘n Climb was super fun! We conquered walls, solved routes, and overcame challenges - which required focus, problem-solving skills, and a lot of bravery! Plus, the supportive and encouraging environment at Clip ‘n Climb really helped us to learn teamwork and resilience and self-confidence. The teachers were so impressed with the way the older kids supported and helped the younger kids. We came away from this experience with a huge sense of accomplishment and pride!

🏋️‍♀️ The Spot Gym Experience

Next up was an adventure at ‘The Spot,’ a gym located right down the street from our school! We experienced some seriously fun workouts that promoted strength, endurance, and overall fitness. Not only that - we had a dance party with the craziest music, and everyone joined in on the dance floor. The energy was through the roof, and the kids absolutely loved it! We ended the session with a calming breathing exercise accompanied by soothing music. It was the perfect way to wind down and relax after all the excitement.

❄️ Optimist Hil

Last but not least, we bundled up for an incredible adventure at Optimist Hill. It was a perfect opportunity to make new friendships and experience an exciting activity together. We laughed, cheered, and supported each other as we tackled the slopes in our tubes. We had a blast hanging out, spending time outdoors in the fresh air and getting to know each other better!

What we learned about Movement this month:

Throughout our month of exploring movement 🏃‍♀️, we discovered some incredible things about how it can lift our moods 😄 and make us feel amazing 🌟.

Moving our bodies through activities like climbing, working out, and tubing not only boosted our mood but also zapped away stress! We also experienced a sense of pride and accomplishment as we tried new things and conquered challenges. One of the best outcomes was the way we were able to encourage and support each other.

Whether we were climbing walls, working out together, dancing to fun music, or sliding down the slopes, we learned that movement is not just about staying active — it’s about feeling happier 😊, building friendships 👫, and embracing the joy of being in the moment 🌈.

Stay tuned for more incredible adventures coming your way as we continue our Lift Your Mood, Lift Your Life project!

In the meantime, let's keep moving 🏃‍♀️, keep smiling😄, and keep lifting our moods 🌟 through the power of movement!
